"via Pacific mail" 'India-Hong Kong-USA' (endorsed in m/s), all tied by "BAHRAIN AIR PESIAN GULF/6 OC 40" double-circle datestamp, with violet censor handstamps on front (large rectangular "PASSED BY CENSOR/BAHRAIN" and triangle "PASSED CENSOR HONG KONG 9"). Envelope slightly reduced at the right and central vert. fold otherwise fine. A scarce franking for the Pacific air route. (T)

1960/61 Two unusual postal stationery registered envelopes 'Sheik Sulman bin Hamad Al Khalifah', with (1) env. 40n.p., size G, addressed to Ireland uprated two definitives 40n.p. tied by "AWALI (1)/BAHRAIN/26 JY 64" c.d.s. and with registered oval despatch dater on the reverse, and (2) similar registered envelope 40n.p. red but overprinted by two black bars (after the Sheik's death in 1961) also addressed to Northern Ireland, covered by additional stamps 75f. and 5f. tied by large oval dater "MANAMA BAHRAIN 11 AP 66". The add. adhesives partly lifted from the envelopes in order to identify the printed stamps of 40n.p. A very unusual pair
