1856, 10 c. blue, diagonally bisected, tied by target cancel to folded letter with adjacent red cds. "SANTIAGO 31.DBRE.58" and handwritten endorsement "Via de Panama" with accountancy mark "GB/2F87 5/10" via London with tax mark "12" (decimes) to Paris with London transit mark 15.2.59 and Paris arrival mark 16.2.59. The bisceted 10 c. stamps pays the basic 5 c. internal letter rate between Santiago and Valparaiso, an uncommon usage of bisect paying part postage on a overseas letter in very good condition, certificate Philatelic Foundation. Only a couple of letters with bisected stamps are known to overseas destinations!
